NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 29, 2015) - The Nashville Sounds (46-59) scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to upend the Iowa Cubs (54-50) 6-4 in Pacific Coast League action Wednesday night at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds snapped their seven-game losing streak with the win.

Iowa scored a run in four consecutive frames, starting in the fifth inning. The I-Cubs broke the scoring seal when Rubi Silva came around to score on John Andreoli's RBI double in the fifth inning.

The I-Cubs got another run in the sixth when Javy Baez scored on a fielding error by Sounds left fielder Anthony Aliotti on a fly ball off the bat of Silva. They then made it 3-0 in the seventh inning when Junior Lake drew a bases loaded walk.

Nashville tallied its first two runs off Iowa starter Felipe Paulino with no one out in the seventh. Craig Gentry and Joey Wendle led off the frame with a pair of singles, then both scored on Ryan Roberts' two RBI double.

Paulino spun 6.0 perfect innings before allowing his two seventh-inning runs. He allowed a total of four hits and walked no one. He also struck out a career-high 12 batters. The last I-Cub to strike out 12 batters in a game was Esmailin Caridad on Aug. 5, 2015 in a game at Reno.

Recently acquired lefty Ryan Buchter tossed a scoreless inning with a walk and two strikeouts in his I-Cubs debut.

Iowa extended its lead to 4-2 in the top of the eighth on a leadoff solo homer from Silva, but the Sounds struck back for four runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 6-4 lead.

Rehabbing lefty Zac Rosscup started the eighth for Iowa but could only retire two batters while allowing a hit and a walk. Iowa turned to closer Brian Schlitter (2-2) to escape the jam, but could not contain Nashville. With two outs and one run in, Schlitter got Jason Pridie to ground to third base, but Christian Villanueva bobbled it and couldn't make the out. Nate Freiman followed with a two RBI single to give the Sounds the lead for good.

It was Schlitter's second consecutive blown save and loss for Iowa.

Nashville Cody Martin allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 6.1 innings in a no-decision. Righty reliever Aaron Kurcz (2-1) picked up the win by allowing one run in 1.2 innings with five strikeouts. Right-hander Angel Casto nailed down his second save for Nashville with a scoreless ninth.

Silva led Iowa with two hits, and RBI and two runs scored. Lake reached base twice and drove in a run. Baez walked, scored a run and stole a base.

Roberts went 2-for-4 with three RBI to pace Nashville offensively. Wendle went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

The I-Cubs and Sounds will play game three of a four-game set on Thursday, with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. CT at First Tennessee Park. Right-hander Carlos Pimentel (7-5, 3.17) will take the hill for Iowa opposite Sounds righty Brad Mills (4-10, 3.94). The game can be heard live on AM 940, 104.5 FM, and live-streamed at Iowacubs.com. The On-Deck Circle Pre-game Show will begin 6:40 p.m. CT.
