Albuquerque Plates Four in Ninth to Shock Salt Lake

ALBUQUERQUE (July 28) - Albuquerque scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth, as the Isotopes rallied for a 7-6 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday night. Albuquerque trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the ninth, but Kyle Parker, Tommy Murphy and Roger Bernadina opened the inning with consecutive singles off of Bees' pitcher Kurt Spomer (2-2) with Parker scoring to make it 6-4. Bernadina stole second base and catcher Rafael Lopez' throw went into center, scoring Murphy and advancing Bernadina to third. Tim Smalling followed with a single to center to bring home the tying run. With one out, Brock Bond singled moving Smalling to third and a passed ball on Lopez allowed Smalling to score the winning run.

Salt Lake scored three runs in the top of ninth to take the 6-3 lead, as Lopez singled to left and came home on Gary Brown's home run to left field, his seventh of the season. Ryan Jackson walked and scored one out later on a triple by Grant Green. Brown led the Bees with two hits and two runs batted in, while Green added one hit and two RBI. Bees' starter Adam Wilk, who left the game with a 3-2 lead, went six innings and allowed just two runs on twelve hits with four strikeouts and no walks. For Salt Lake, it was their fifth straight loss and their league high 22nd loss in a game decided by one run.
