ROUND ROCK, Texas - Dell Diamond is going green and gold this Thursday, July 30 for Baylor Night. A handful of Baylor University student athletes will be on hand for the occasion, including defensive tackle and the "strongest man in college football" Andrew Billings, wide receiver Jay Lee, safety Orion Stewart, and Cedar Park native and All-American left tackle Spencer Drango. All four will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Holly Tucker, a Baylor graduate who was featured on NBC's national singing competition, will sing the National Anthem.
Additionally, the 2013 and 2014 Big 12 football championship trophies will be on display in the picnic area for fans to take photos. Following the start of the game, the Baylor football players and Tucker will also be available for photos and autographs in the picnic area.
Drango, a fifth-year senior at Baylor, is a two-time first team All-Big 12 honoree and a fourth-year starter with a team-high 35 career starts entering the 2014 season. He was a 2012 Freshman All-American and All-Big 12. HE's a three-time academic All-Big 12 honoree and 2013 first-team Academic All-District VII selection. Drango is a graduate of Cedar Park High School.
Billings, a Waco native, is a returning All-Big 12 lineman and a third-year junior. He was a consensus 2014 first team All-Big 12 as a sophomore. An accomplished weightlifter, Billings broke a 22-year-old Texas prep state meet record with a 2,010 pound effort (805 lb. squat, 500 lb. bench and 705 lb. dead lift) in 2012. He graduated from Waco High School.
Lee is a returning veteran starter to Baylor University at outside receiver, having played in 32 career games and 13 career starts entering the 2015 season. He is a native of Lee, Texas.
Stewart is a returning All-Big 12 safety. He ranks second on Baylor Athletics career yards-per-interception-return list at 30.0 entering 2015. A Waco native, Stewart graduated from Midway High School.
Tucker, who began singing at the age of seven, was part of a student-run record label at Baylor called Uproar Records and recorded an original 3-song EP entitled "Something To Be Said." She plays the guitar, piano and alto saxophone. In July 2012, Tucker auditioned for NBC's wildly popular singing competition.
