Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
Pitchers Bryan Brickhouse and Kyle Smith along with shortstop Jack Lopez and outfielder Julio Aparicio have been moved from the Idaho Falls Chukars to the Kane County Cougars (Low A).
Brickhouse was the Opening Day starter for the greybirds. Despite allowing 7 earned runs over 1.2 innings, the 20-year-old showcased a mid-90's fastball and a solid breaking ball. Smith dazzled Idaho Falls fans in his pro debut, earning the win on Tuesday after allowing just one run on three hits while striking out 11 Orem Owlz.
Lopez hit from the leadoff position in all three Chukars victories to start the season. The 19-year-old had 5 hits in 13 at-bats (.385) and scored a Pioneer League high 6 runs. Aparicio led the Pioneer League with 6 RBI and led the Chukars with 7 hits in 12 at-bats (.583).
The rest of the Chukars squad puts their undefeated, 3-0 record on the line tonight with a 7:15 match-up against the newly formed Grand Junction Rockies.
