BILLINGS, MONT - In what was a bizarre game at Dehler Park on Wednesday, the Missoula Osprey did not have lady luck on their side in an 8-6 loss to the Billings Mustangs in front of 3,274 fans.

Andrew Barbosa pitched four hitless innings, but the Osprey bullpen could not keep up the solid pitching they have posted in the first two games of the season. The relief corps allowed all eight runs and four hits, but were the victims of five errors on defense.

The Osprey jumped out in front first, using a Jake Lamb RBI triple to snag a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Tyler Bream plated a run with a single to center one inning later to make it 2-0 Missoula.

Billings would then post their first four-run inning off of the Missoula bullpen in the bottom of the fifth off of Patrick Smith to claim a 4-2 lead. The O's would bounce right back with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Michael Perez led off the inning with a single and Breland Almadova - who had his third multi-hit night of the season - doubled. Perez scored on a RBI groundout by Justin Bianco, and Almadova then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.

Ty Linton then snapped the tie with a two-run home run to deep right center field to give the Osprey the lead. However, reliever Cody Geyer (0-1) could not hold the lead, giving up a three-run home run to Carlos Sanchez. Spencer Dickinson walked and later scored an insurance run to account for the final.

Lamb and Bream joined Almadova with two hits each, while Pedro Ruiz and Rudy Flores added hits for Missoula.

Barbosa struck out six batters in his four innings of work. He did walk three, and another runner reached on an error, but Perez picked off one runner at first and threw out another attempting to steal to help keep the Mustangs off of the scoreboard before the fifth. Justin Thompson and Chase Stevens combined for 2 2/3 hitless innings of relief.

The Osprey and Mustangs wrap up their four-game series on Thursday here at Dehler Park. Missoula will send right-hander Yoimer Camacho, while the Mustangs counter with right-hander Sal Romano.

The Osprey will open the home schedule on June 22 against Great Falls. Tickets are available now at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 North Higgins in Downtown Missoula, online at MissoulaOsprey.com and by phone (406) 543-3300.
