Birmingham Barons News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Four Barons were chosen by the Southern League's field managers, general managers, broadcasters and print media to compete in the Southern League All-Star Game Tuesday, June 23 in Montgomery, Ala., at Riverwalk Stadium.

White Sox No. 1 prospect Tim Anderson, No. 2 prospect Frankie Montas, No. 13 prospect Jacob May and second baseman Joey DeMichele were elected to compete for the Southern League North All-Stars. It will be the first Southern League All-Star Game for all four Barons.

Anderson was elected as the starting shortstop and DeMichele the starting second baseman, while May was chosen as one of four outfielders and Montas one of 12 pitchers.

It is the second all-star honor for Anderson. The top prospect was named a Carolina League All-Star as a member of the Winston-Salem Dash in 2014. It's the second professional all-star nod for Montas, as well, as the right-hander was chosen to pitch for the World Team at the All-Star Futures Game July 13 at Target Field in 2014. It is the first all-star selection for May and DeMichele.

The 2015 Southern League All-Star Games festivities begin Monday, June 22 at 6 p.m. with the Southern League All-Star Social, and will resume Tuesday, June 23 at Riverwalk Stadium for the Southern League All-Star Home Run Derby. The All-Star Game is set for 7:35 p.m. Wednesday at Riverwalk Stadium, the home of the Montgomery Biscuits.
