Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release
Grand Prairie, TX. Fort Worth pitcher Dwayne Pollok silenced the AirHogs bats for seven innings in a 6-0 victory Saturday night in front of 3,298 fans at QuikTrip Park.
Pollok allowed only two hits - both singles - and walked two and struck out six in improving his record to 9-5. Aaron Garza and Greg Porter were the only two AirHogs to collect hits off Pollok.
Pollok also received plenty of offensive support as the Cats, who won for the second time in the three-game series, had 15 hits. Kevin Thompson and John Allen both had three hits with Thompson collecting four RBI and Allen a triple, double and single.
Fort Worth took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on back-to-back doubles by John Allen and Kevin Thompson off Grand Prairie starter Luke Prihoda. Allen's double hit off the wall in center and Thompson hit a looping line drive on the following pitch into right field.
The Cats made it 2-0 in the fourth inning and added three more runs in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. Allen's RBI single plated a run and Thompson followed with a two-run double.
Fort Worth added another run in the top of the seventh when Allen led with a triple and scored on Thompson's single. In fact the Cats loaded the bases with one out off reliever Jose Obispo but the threat ended when Nick McCoola grounded into a double play.
Fort Worth goes for the sweep Sunday in the series finale at 6:05 p.m. The AirHogs still lead the season series, 8-5.
The third game of the series starts tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. for a Family Sunday "Back To School Night" at QuikTrip Park. Tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased in-person at the QuikTrip Park Box Office, located at 1600 Lone Star Parkway, Grand Prairie, TX 75050, by calling 972.504.9383 or visiting www.airhogsbaseball.com.
