Former Storm Forward Palmer Makes NHL Debut

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Former Tri-City Storm RW Jarod Palmer made his National Hockey League debut Saturday night for the Minnesota Wild.

The Wild centerman was called up from the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros on Friday after starting his second season playing for the Aeros. Palmer had 10 points (4g, 6a) and plus-8 rating in 26 games this season in the AHL. Last season, the native of Fridley, Minn. had 18 points (9g, 19a), 64 penalty minutes and a plus-12 rating in 65 games in his rookie season in the AHL.

In two seasons with the Storm (2004-06), Palmer scored 30 goals and added 63 assists in 110 games. Following his career with the Storm, he would attend Miami University (Ohio) for four seasons, and played in 169 games posting 137 points (47g, 90a) during his college career.

With Palmer playing an NHL shift for the Minnesota Wild, he becomes the seventh former Storm member to play in the NHL. He joins the following players to make it to the NHL following a career playing with the Storm - Christian Hanson (Washington Capitals), Jack Hillen (Nashville Predators), Peter Mannino (Winnipeg Jets), Scott Parse (Los Angeles Kings), Bill Thomas (last played with Florida Panthers), and Steve Wagner (last played with St. Louis Blues).
