
Former RiverKings coach Doug Shedden to coach Finnish national team

SOUTHAVEN --- Former RiverKings head coach Doug Shedden was named on Wednesday as the head coach of Finland's national hockey team for the 2008 International Hockey Federation World Championships.
Shedden coached the RiverKings for three seasons from 2000-01 to 2002-03. In 198 games, he compiled franchise bests with 128 wins and a .682 winning percentage. The RiverKings won CHL President's Cup Championships in 2002 and 2003, and when you add his time with the Wichita Thunder, Shedden won a total of four CHL titles.
Following his RiverKings tenure, Shedden coached the St. John's Maple Leafs (AHL) for two seasons in 2003-04 and 2004-05. He has been coaching in Finland the last two years.
