Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
Odessa, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees edged the Odessa Jackalopes 2-1 Thursday night to snap a four-game winless skid. Ryan Carrigan deflected home the game-winner at the 3:24 mark of the third.
Odessa's Alex Dunn gave the Jacks a 1-0 lead with four seconds left in the first period, but Joe Casey responded at 1:56 of the second to tie the game. Jeff Van Nynatten held Odessa off from there, turning aside 26 shots over the final 40 minutes for his second pro win. Van Nynatten got some defensive help as well with Rio shutting down nine Odessa power plays, including a pair of two-man advantages.
Mike Gorman took the loss in net for Odessa with 23 saves.
The Bees head home for a pair of games this weekend, hosting New Mexico Friday night and Arizona Saturday night.
