Former Red Sox Pitching Coach Joins Chiefs

Syracuse, NY- The Washington Nationals have named Rich Gale as the new pitching coach of the Syracuse Chiefs. Gale joins the Chiefs from the Nationals single-A affiliate in Hagerstown, MD. Gale takes over for Steve McCatty who was promoted to the Washington Nationals.

Gale came to the Nationals after spending the last three years in the Florida Marlins minor league system. He was the pitching coach for the Albuquerque Dukes (Triple-A) the last two seasons. Prior to that, he was pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox in 1992 and '93 before leaving the game for 12 years to spend time with his family.

Gale played in the major leagues for seven years with the Royals, Giants, Reds and Red Sox.

The Chiefs are in the midst of an eight game road trip. Tonight, they play a doubleheader in Scranton at 5:30. All games can be heard on SportsRadio 620 WHEN.
