
Former Pacifics Left-Hander Brian Gump Pitches Well in First Start for St. Paul

GARY, Indiana (Aug. 30, 2012) - Former San Rafael Pacifics southpaw, Brian Gump, made his first start of the season with the St. Paul Saints (51-44) in a 2-1 loss to the Gary SouthShore Railcats (47-48) on Wednesday night.
Gump pitched six innings, scattered six hits, waked a pair and struck out six, taking the hard-luck loss.
After allowing single runs in the first two innings, Gump settled down, and allowed just two hits - one of which was a bunt single - from the third through sixth.
In three games with St. Paul, Gump has a allowed two runs on eight hits in nine innings, has walked five and struck out 10.
Another former Pacific, catcher Jon Hurst, was Gump's battery mate. Hurst started at catcher for the Saints going 0 for 3 on Wednesday. He is hitting .125 (1 for 8) with a run scored with the Saints.
