Fort Worth Cats News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- Led by third baseman Landon Camp's 5-for-5 effort, the Colts powered past the Fort Worth Cats, 11-5, Thursday night at Foster Field.

San Angelo took a 4-0 lead in the first, but then fell behind 5-4 in the top of the seventh. The Colts came right back with seven runs in the bottom of the inning, though.

The Colts sent 11 men to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, and six men reached base consecutively. Landon Camp blasted a three-run homer into left field that gave San Angelo the lead for good. It was Camp's team best 14th home run, and it scored first baseman Daryl Jones and left fielder Cory Patton.

Fort Worth third baseman Brandon Jones also had a three-run homer in the third inning. It was his league-best 17th, and it brought home left fielder Chad Gabriel and second baseman Antoin Gray.

Cats' starter Kane Holbrooks (3-5) took the loss, allowing six runs on 10 hits in six-plus innings. Holbrooks failed to record an out in the seventh, and was charged with two of the three runs scored on Camp's homer.

Colts' reliever Alfredo Caballero (1-0) earned the win by virtue of pitching the top of the seventh. He gave up two runs on three hits. It is the fifth loss in a row for the Cats, who are now just 36-38 since starting the season with a 13-4 record.

The win improves San Angelo to 49-42, tying the Cats for third place in the United League standings. The rest of the regular season sees five games in four days between the Cats and Colts at LaGrave Field.

That stretch of games begins Friday night at 7:05 p.m. It is the start to Fan Appreciation Weekend, as ticket giveaways and autographed Cats memorabilia will be handed out throughout the evening. Concession prices will be discounted as well, as draft beer, fountain drinks, and hot dogs will be sold for just two dollars. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
