Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- Shawn Estes-a Douglas High graduate and 1997 National League All-Star-will be a part of the Reno Aces television broadcasts on my21 TV this season, the organization announced today.
Estes will serve as the Aces' color analyst for a portion of the televised games this season, alongside the Voice of the Aces, Ryan Radtke. Also joining the broadcast team are a pair of former professional players-Brady Raggio and Zak Basch.
A native of Minden, Nev., Estes was a first-round selection of the Seattle Mariners in the 1991 draft. He broke into the big leagues in 1995 with the San Francisco Giants, and enjoyed his best season in 1997, finishing 19-5 with a 3.18 ERA. The southpaw would go on to pitch for the Mets, Reds, Cubs, Rockies, Diamondbacks and Padres in a 13-year Major League career. He finished his career 101-93 in the big leagues with a 4.71 ERA.
Raggio played parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues with the Cardinals and Diamondbacks. Now a corporate sales executive for the Aces, Raggio also starred for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks in Japan. He won five-career big league games and earned his first-career Major League save for the D-backs in 2003.
Basch was one of the most dominant closers in the history of the University of Nevada baseball program. After transferring from Hofstra University, Basch saved nine games for the Wolf Pack in 2003, allowing just 12 earned runs over 47.2 innings of work. He was drafted by Boston in the 13th round of the 2003 draft and played two professional seasons in the Red Sox and Oakland Athletics chains.
