
Sox Smack 18 Hits In 12-4 Victory Over 51s

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox snapped a four-game losing streak as they defeated the Las Vegas 51s 12-4 in front of 2,631 fans at Security Service Field.
The Sox took control of the game in the sixth inning. After the 51s tied the game at four on an RBI single by Manny Mayorson and a bases loaded walk surrendered by starter Billy Buckner, the Sox erupted for eight unanswered runs. A Ryan Rohlinger two RBI double in the sixth and a Jordan Pacheco two RBI triple in the seventh gave the Sox a 12-4 lead. Pacheco finished the night 2-for-3 with three RBI. Other offensive stars for the Sox included Chris Nelson who went 3-for-5 with a two RBI and a run scored and Joe Mather who finished the night 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Buckner (2-4, 5.68) picked up the win for the Sox allowing four runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings while striking out six. Las Vegas starter Scott Richmond (5-8, 6.80) took the loss allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits in 6.0 innings.
With the win, the Sox improved to 42-53 while Las Vegas falls to 49-46. The Sox and 51s will play a double header Tuesday with game one starting at 5:05 PM MT. Clayton Mortensen (0-4, 15.75) will look to pick up his first win of the season. He'll be apposed by Kyle Drabek (1-1, 8.24). Game two will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
