
Zephyrs Fall In Extra Innings

ROUND ROCK, TX -Brad Nelson drilled a line drive over the left field wall for his second home run of the game and deliver the Express a come from behind 5-4 win in ten innings at the Dell Diamond.
The Zephyrs and Express combined for six home runs in the contest with three hitters each getting a pair of long balls. Chris Agulia drilled two home runs for New Orleans and Matt Kata and Nelson each hit two for the Express.
The Zephyrs scored runs in the first and second innings and to get an early 2-0 lead. Agulia added home runs in the fourth and the sixth innings. Round Rock hit back to back home runs in the fifth inning for their first hits of the game. Adalberto Mendez pitched 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on two hits in a no decision.
The Zephyrs led 4-2 and turned to their closer Jose Ceda in the eighth inning. Ceda retired the first two batters and walked Nelson. Kata then tied the game with a 2 run shot to right field.
The Zephyrs threatened in the ninth inning with a Vinny Rottino walk and then Mike Cervenak drilled a high fly ball to right field and Express outfielder Joey Butler made a tremendous catch for the out.
Nelson smoked the game winner in the tenth just over the wall in left field and the Express have won five of six. The Zephyrs have dropped three in a row and fall a season high 11 games back of first place.
Corey Madden suffered the loss and Mark Hamburger earned the win in relief for Round Rock.
Game Notes -New Orleans is 4-3 in extra-inning games. Jose Ceda attempted his first two inning save of the season, the blown save is his second in 23 attempts. The Zephyrs scored two more two out runs and have 22 two out RBI's in their last five games. Mike Cervenak extended his hit streak to 14 games, he is 24x56 and 18 RBI during the streak.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs continue their 12 game road-trip in Round Rock, Texas on Tuesday at 7. The Zephyrs and Express meet in the second of a four game set. New Orleans will start RH Elih Villanueva (4-7, 4.73) against Express RH Eric Hurley (3-0, 3.98). RADIO: WMTI 106.1 FM.
