Ottawa Lynx News Release

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Lynx are pleased to announce that former Lynx and current Orioles 2B BRIAN ROBERTS has been voted by the fans to start at second base for the American League in the Major League Baseball All-Star game which will be held on July 12 in Detroit.

Roberts, 27, leads the American League with a .359 batting average entering today's games and has hit a career high 14 homers in only 74 games this year. The switch-hitting Roberts played for the Lynx in 2003, where he hit .315 with 15 RBI, 36 Runs Scored and 19 stolen bases in 44 games.

Three other Orioles, SS Miguel Tejada, 3B Melvin Mora and LHP B.J. Ryan will join Roberts on the American League All-Star team.

In other Lynx news, Ottawa's roster has had some changes over the weekend. All-Star closer Tim Byrdak and C Eli Whiteside both joined the Orioles from Ottawa. The Lynx roster also will have a familiar face, as RHP John Stephens, who pitched for Ottawa in 2003 was signed to a free agent contract by Baltimore and assigned to Ottawa's roster.

The Lynx continue their six-game road trip tonight in Scranton with the first of a two- game series. RHP Dave Borkowski is the scheduled starter for Ottawa in the 7:00 pm matchup.
