Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, OR - PK Park is set to host a homecoming for former Oregon Duck starter, Matt Mercer. Mercer was the 5th round selection for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2018 draft and is currently playing for the Hillsboro Hops. He is scheduled to start against the Emeralds on Tuesday, August 14th when the Hops come to town for a three game series.

In his three years at the University of Oregon, Mercer took over as the anchor in the rotation. Within his 46 appearances, he had 35 starts, where 30 of those were his final two years.

This will be Mercer's ninth start in the Northwest League this year, and second at PK Park. Mercer went one inning against Eugene back on July 7. Mercer's outing on Tuesday is likely to go longer as he gets stretched out.
