Former Bucs Named to US Men's Team

Urbandale (IA) USA Hockey announced its 2011 U.S. Men's Select Team roster and it includes former Des Moines Buccaneers Noah Clarke and Chris Collins. The team will compete at the Deutschland Cup November 11-13 in Munich, Germany.

Clarke played for the Buccaneers from 1997-1998 scoring 60 goals over 131 before embarking on a four-year career at Colorado College. He then moved onto a professional career beginning in 2003 that has included 21 NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils.

Since 2008 Clarke has played in Europe and is playing this season for EHC Munchen of the German League.

Collins was a Buccaneer in 2001-2002 scoring 27 goals in 61 games before heading to Boston College for four seasons. He began playing professionally in 2006 and has played in both North American and European Leagues. Collins is playing for Nurnberg of the German League this season.

The team also includes Steve Wagner, who briefly played with the Bucs' in 2002-2003 and suited up in 14 games.

The Buccaneers are 1-3-1 on the season and return to the ice on Saturday night in Ann Arbor, MI against the U-18 Team USA squad. The Buccaneers are back home on Saturday Oct. 29 against Tri-City.

The Des Moines Buccaneers are playing their 32nd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League this season. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
