Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Blizzard had a large presence in the first week of the AFL season. Former Blizzard players put up some impressive numbers to start out the 21st AFL season.

The Georgia Force (1-0) opened up the season with a 69-65 victory over the Arizona Rattlers (0-1). Former Blizzard quarterback and Sturgeon Bay native, Chris Greisen, lead the Force offense by throwing for 337 yards on 25 of 30 completions and nine touchdowns. His nine touchdown passes tied a franchise record, set by QB Matt Nagy in 2005 against Dallas. Blizzard DB David Crocker started his first AFL game with the Force defense and recorded 7.5 tackles.

Another former Blizzard standout, Ryan Bowers, recorded 6 tackles, forced one fumble and had a timely interception in the Orlando Predator's victory over the Tampa Bay Storm. The Predator's beat the Storm by a score of 52-27. The Predator's will play in the first-ever Monday Night AFL Football game on Monday, March 12th on ESPN2.

Even though the 2006 ArenaBowl Champion Chicago Rush came up short against the Kansas City Brigade, the Blizzard had two former players playing in their season opener. DL Joel Peters recorded two tackles, while OL Robert Boss started on the line that only allowed one sack.

The Blizzard open up the 2007 af2 season on the road against the expansion Fort Wayne Fusion on March 31st and return to Green Bay for the home opener on April 13th against the Manchester Wolves.
