Fargo Force News Release
The Force came out hot and maintained momentum throughout the game thanks to some big plays from multiple players. Fargo came away with a dominant 6-2 win over the Musketeers highlighted by a goal from Bear Hughes to give the Force the lead in period two, big fights from Suda and Wong, and some huge saves from Boynton in the net.
Austin Wong kicked off period one with a bang, scoring just :44 seconds in. Wong went far side of a feed from Bear Hughes giving the Force a 1-0 lead. The remainder of the period was filled with penalties on both sides of the ice, three against the Force and three against the Musketeers, but neither could capitalize on their man advantage. The Force closed out the period with a 1-0 lead outshooting their opponents 11-7.
Six minutes into period two the Musketeers tied up the game with a powerplay goal from Bennett Schimek. They followed that up with another goal at exactly five minutes remaining, taking their first lead of the night. However, it wasn't long before the Force took back that lead.
With 1:53 remaining Jeremy Davidson and Ryan Richardson found themselves in a two on one breakaway down the ice. Davidson fed Richardson the puck that he forced home tying up the score at an even 2-2. Only twelve seconds later Bear Hughes found the back of the net, off a rebound for his third goal of the season.
Period three was an action-packed period kicking off with a power play goal from Jake Braccini, assisted by Austin Wong and Ryan Siedem. Thanks to 7 different penalties against the Musketeers during period three the Force had a man advantage for much of the third period. Capitalizing on that advantage twice with two goals from Tristan Broz in the ladder half of the period. The first assisted by Matthew Crasa and Owen Gallatin and the next just 23 seconds later assisted by Owen Gallatin and Aaron Huglen.
Those 2 goals brought the score to 6-2 as the Force improve to 20-11-2 and remain on top of the Western Conference. We're back again tomorrow night for round two vs. the Musketeers, and it's Sanford Children's Night! Puck drop at 6:05 PM.
