Force DS Chris Brown Named to AFL All-Rookie Team

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - Georgia Force DS Chris Brown was named to the 2006 AFL All-Rookie Team. Georgia currently has two players that were named to the AFL's All-Rookie Team in their rookie seasons, FB/LB Robert Thomas (2004) and WR/LB Derek Lee (2005).

Brown started all 16 games at DS during the regular season. He finished second in the league in tackles (124.0) in addition to recording four interceptions, 10 pass defenses and one forced fumble. His 124 tackles set a new single-season mark for tackles, surpassing DS Willie Gary's 91.5 tackles set in 2005. Brown returned three of his four interceptions for touchdowns en route to the Force tying the AFL single-season record for interceptions returned for a touchdown with seven (San Jose: 2003). In Week 4, Brown was named ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Las Vegas. Brown posted three interceptions, 7.5 tackles and two pass defenses in Georgia's, 54-35, win over the Gladiators. Brown was named AFL Rookie of the Month for January/February. He collected four interceptions in five games and returned three of them for touchdowns.

The Force will play the New York Dragons on Sunday, May 21, at 3:00 p.m., in Nassau Coliseum. Georgia finished the regular season 8-8 and New York finished 10-6.
