
Rampage re-signs seven corps players

The Grand Rapids Rampage has announced the re-signing of seven players - five to two-year extensions and two to one-year deals. Linemen Nikia Adderson, DeMarcus Johnson and Greg Scott, along with WR/DB Dameon Porter and QB Matt Sauk will be donning the Rampage red & black through the 2008 season. Linemen Jason Berger and Mike Lawson signed one-year extensions through 2007.
Nikia Adderson played in the Rampage's final four games and posted four assisted tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Jason Berger was the team's starting center for 13 games in 2006.
DeMarcus Johnson played in five games after being picked up off of waivers from Tampa Bay. He registered 2.5 tackles and half a sack. Johnson started on offense three times, with the Rampage going 2-1 in those games while not allowing a single sack.
Mike Lawson appeared in five games after coming to the Rampage from Tampa Bay. He had 3.5 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
Dameon Porter, the former 2001 AFL Ironman of the Year and two-time All-Arena First Teamer, played in nine games for the Rampage and posted 19.0 tackles, an interception, three pass breakups and caught four passes for 32 yards.
Matt Sauk was picked up off of waivers from Philadelphia, where he started four games and completed 65.7% of his passes for 1,046 yards with 20 TDs and three interceptions. He was the af2's 2005 Offensive Player of the Year with the Louisville Fire and led the league with 4,489 yards and 99 touchdown passes.
Greg Scott, an AFL rookie, posted 11.5 tackles and a batted down pass in 14 games played. He was in camp with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005.
AFL teams have until June 30 to re-sign players that can become free agents. Currently, the Rampage has 16 players under contract for the 2007 season. The nine players under contract for 2007 not mentioned in this press release include: OS Aaron Bailey, FB/LB Jason Ferguson, DS Johnnie Harris, WR/LB Timon Marshall, OL/DL Ben Nowland, FB/LB Chris Ryan, QB Chad Salisbury, OL/DL Yusuf Scott and OL/DL Matt Walls.
