
Force defender receives MISL weekly honor

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force defender Omid Namazi has been named the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Defensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending February 15.
The 38-year-old Namazi scored two points (goal, assist) and blocked seven shots as Cleveland went 1-1 last week. In a 5-3 loss in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Namazi blocked three shots. The former KiXX player/coach played a large role in Cleveland's 7-6 win over Dallas on Sunday, finishing with a goal, an assist, and four blocked shots. In 11 games with the Force, the native of Washington, DC, has scored six points (goal, five assists) and blocked 21 shots. Namazi has been a two-time All-League selection and the 2000-01 Defender of the Year.
Omid joins forward Zoran Karic, goalkeeper Jim Larkin, defender Josh Timbers and as the other Force players to earn the MISL Weekly Honor. Karic earned the Offensive Player of the Week on January 19, Larkin earned Goalkeeper of the Week on two occasions. (October 27 and December 8) and Timbers was named the Defender of the Week on November 3.
