(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Mike Foltynewicz allowed just one hit, a home run, in eight innings as the Lexington Legends defeated the Rome Braves 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Foltynewicz (7-1) walked two batters, both in the first inning, and struck out five. After William Beckwith's homer with two outs in the top of the fourth, Foltynewicz retired the next 13 batters before leaving the game. He lowered his earned run average to 2.14 after starting the day at 2.27, fourth in the South Atlantic League. His seventh victory of the year ties Foltynewicz for the league lead with Asheville's Ben Alsup and Daniel Winkler. Carlos Quevedo set the side down in order in the ninth to record his first save of the season.

Lexington took the lead with one run in the first. Delino DeShields Jr., who had two hits and four stolen bases in the game, led off with a single. He stole second and third and came home on a ground out by Zach Johnson.

The Legends added three more runs in the second inning. Chris Epps and Drew Muren singled back to back to start the inning. Epps moved to third when Mike Kvasnicka flied out to left. With two outs,

Chan Jong Moon doubled down the left field line, scoring Epps and Muren and giving the Legends a 3-0 lead. A wild pitch moved Moon to third, and he scored when DeShields singled to center field.

DeShields stole second and third, but was stranded there. With the four steals, DeShields has 36 for the season, which leads the South Atlantic League.

Rome starter Ernesto Silva (0-5) picked up the loss after allowing four runs over five innings.

The Legends now embark on a six game road trip that begins Tuesday in Lakewood, New Jersey. First pitch against the BlueClaws is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
