Seattle Thunderbirds News Release
Kent, September 2, 2009 - The Seattle Thunderbirds are encouraging fans to follow the T-Birds at the Everett Silvertips Preseason Tournament on the team's Twitter and Facebook pages. The T-Birds will also incorporate live blogging from the tournament on their website using CoveritLive.
T-Birds Director of Public and Media Relations Ian Henry will be at all three games at the tournament over the Labor Day weekend. He will be posting scoring updates and game recaps to these social media sites during the course of all games.
"We hope to be able to keep our fans as updated as possible on the team's performance at the tournament over the weekend," said Henry. "We plan to send out Twitter Tweets every time we score a goal or there is a significant play. We hope to create a forum for hockey discussion on our Facebook page. We will also be using CoveritLive to create a live real time blog during the T-Birds games at the tournament. If fans have a specific hockey question we will try and answer it using the live blog capabilities of CoveritLive." Twitter followers can set up their account to receive text messages, called "tweets", to their cell phone, or personal handheld device every time the T-Birds post an update on their Twitter account. Once you have set up your account on Twitter you will need to input your phone number in the "Devices" tab, which is accessed by clicking on the "Settings" link. After inputting your phone number and checking the receive texts box, text "Follow SeattleTbirds" to 40404 and you will be set up to receive T-Bird Tweets to a handheld device.

Fans will be able to access the live blog during the preseason tournament by clicking on the appropriate blog link in the news rotator on the T-Birds home page. Fans will not have to create a login to ask questions but their comments will be moderated.
"The possibilities that CoveritLive presents for the T-Birds to communicate in real time to our fans is definitely something we want to take advantage of," said Henry. "We will be learning the system right along with our fans and we are looking forward to growing and implementing the applications as the season progresses."
