35 Players Remain in Chiefs Camp
September 2, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs have 35 players remaining in camp, including their first two picks in this spring's WHL Bantam Draft. Reid Gow, the 16th overall selection, and Connor Chartier, Spokane's second round pick, will make the trip to Everett this weekend and have the chance to play in pre-season games. Gow, a defenseman from Killarney, Manitoba, and Chartier, a forward out of Calgary, are ineligible to play in the WHL regular season based on their age but can play in the pre-season.
Spokane will take on Portland, Everett and Tri-City on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in their first action of the pre-season. All three games will begin at 3:00.
The Chiefs are carrying four goaltenders, 13 defensemen and 18 forwards. Spokane will be losing two more players to pro-camps before the weekend starts as Tyler Johnson will leave for the Minnesota Wild's camp and Levko Koper will attend Atlanta's camp. Mitch Wahl (Calgary) and James Reid (Vancouver) will also leave during the weekend for their respective camps.
Five players from the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft remain in Spokane, including their first (Mitch Holmberg), second (Mike Aviani), third (Brady Brassart) and fourth (Tyler Mort) round picks. Brenden Edie, the Chiefs seventh round pick, also remains in camp.
