Focus Turns to Critical Game Four

GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Generals entire season will come down to one game, following a 6-3 loss to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at the Greensboro Coliseum. A Generals loss gives Atlantic City a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five Northeast Division Finals.

The Boardwalk Bullies struck first when Ryan Mougenel scored at the just over six minutes into the game. Greensboro retaliated with a power-play goal by Jay Murphy at the 12:27 mark, and took the lead exactly one minute later when Kurt Drummond put Greensboro ahead 2-1 to end the first period scoring. Following the goal, Atlantic City changed starting goaltender Matt Yeats with Jake Moreland, who stopped 19 shots in the game. The first period goal by Murphy was his 50th career postseason goal, tying former Carolina Monarch Phil Berger.

In the second period, Atlantic City knotted the game at 2-2 just 27 seconds into the frame with a power-play goal by Peter Metcalf. Mike Bayrack then gave the Generals the lead, scoring at the 6:01 mark. Atlantic City's Shawn Maltby tied the game at 3-3, ending the second period.

In the third, the Boardwalk Bullies scored the game-winning goal just 49 seconds into the period off a shot by Kevin Colley. Atlantic City would score twice more, on goals from Ian Walterson and a power-play conversion by Scott Matzka, earning a 6-3 victory. The series now moves to a pivotal fourth game, where the Generals face elimination on Friday night at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Greensboro trails in the best-of-five series 2-1, returning to the Greensboro Coliseum on Friday night with a 7:30 start time. The Generals will attempt to force a game five in Atlantic City on Saturday at Boardwalk Hall at 7:35. All games in the series can be heard live on WPET 950AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.
