NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark - The Flying Chanclas failed to score on Saturday night as the Arkansas Travelers won game five of six between the squads by a score of 6-0.
Logan Evans dominated on the mound for the Travelers. He allowed just one hit and struck out nine in six innings. Offensively, Arkansas reached double-digit hits for a second consecutive night highlighted by a Tyler Locklear two-run home run. San Antonio will look for a series split tomorrow afternoon.
The only hit Evans allowed came in the first frame off the bat of Robert Perez Jr. After hitting Ray-Patrick Didder in the second inning, Evans retired the next 14 Flying Chanclas batters before exiting ahead of the seventh inning.
As Evans dazzled, the Travelers got to Victor Lizarraga. The 20-year-old had not allowed a run through his first three starts and he completed the first inning unscathed, but Arkansas put a pair up in the second. Jake Anchia hit a sacrifice fly and Cole Young singled in a run to make it 2-0 in favor of the home team.
In the third, Locklear blasted a two-run shot entirely out of Dickey-Stephens Park passed the left field berm, concourse and gate. This put Arkansas up 4-0, a lead they'd hold until adding two more in the eighth.
Jared Kollar provided solid relief for the Flying Chanclas. After entering in the fourth to replace Lizarraga, Kollar went the rest of the way allowing just those two late runs. Kollar struck out five and walked only one to save the San Antonio bullpen.
San Antonio threatened late, placing two runners on in both the seventh and the eighth innings. However, Reid Morgan and Jarod Bayless worked out of those respective jams. Travis Kuhn then struck out the side in the ninth and sealed a 6-0 Arkansas victory.
