Flyers Fall on Kids Day Out

FULLERTON, Calif (July 21, 2010), -- The Chico Outlaws scored eight unanswered runs to defeat the Orange County Flyers 8-3 and take the series three games to one at Goodwin Field.

The Flyers (24-26, 2-3 2nd half) scored first on David Harris fourth home run of the year in the bottom of the second to give the Flyers an early 1-0 lead. Tyler Keeble doubled twice in the game, and in the bottom of the third, Keith Ginter drove him in on a double for a 2-0 lead. Zach Mandelblatt got his first RBI of the year on a ground-out to second to score Harris and the Flyers had a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

The Outlaws scored eight rows between the fifth and eighth innings to go up 8-3 in the final game of a four game series. Robby Alcombrack led off the top of the fifth inning with his fourth homer of the year. Carlos Lopez, a home run shy of the cycle, drove in two runs on his triple and double, but struck out twice to end any chance he had at the cycle. Maikel Jova continued his hot hitting, going 3-5 and driving in a run for his ninth RBI this series.

Flyers starer Kevin Altman (3-3) pitched four scoreless innings before giving up seven runs and striking out six on eleven hits, picking up his third loss of the year in six and 1/3 innings. Kyle Wilson and Andre Simpson pitched the two and 2/3 innings giving up one run on one hit while striking out three. Demetrius Banks (7-1), the Outlaws starter, picked up his seventh win of the year going six innings giving up eight hits and allowing three runs. Justin Segal came on for a three inning save, giving up one hit while striking out three.

The Orange County Flyers travel up to Chico for a three game series against the Outlaws starting Friday July 23rd, followd by a three game series against the Tijuana Cimarrones.
