Flyboys Walk-Off Again at Home; Greeneville Defeats Bristol in Extras, 4-3

GREENEVILLE - The Greeneville Flyboys played extra-innings for the first time this season and recorded a 4-3 victory against the Bristol State Liners in 10 innings on Tuesday at Pioneer Park.
Greeneville (22-13-1) scored the game-winning run as Tayler Aguilar was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to allow Homer Bush, Jr. to touch home and secure the 4-3 victory. The Flyboys notched their second walk-off win at home this season and improved to 1-0 in extra-innings.
The State Liners opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a two-out double from Cort Maynard to make it 1-0. Greeneville escaped any further damage in the frame by throwing out a runner at home for the third out.
Greeneville responded in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Flyboys loaded the bases following back-to-back walks and would knot the score on a fielder's choice. Aguilar scored from third off a passed ball later in the frame to give the Flyboys a 2-1 advantage.
Both teams traded runs in the fifth inning as Greeneville gained a 3-2 edge thanks to a run-scoring triple to right field that allowed Jac Croom to score. The one-run advantage would hold for Greeneville until Bristol rallied in the top of the eighth inning. Aaron Dolney delivered the run-scoring single to knot the score 3-3 with two outs.
The Flyboys looked to secure a victory in the bottom of the ninth inning as a pair of runners moved into scoring position with one out. Bristol denied the walk-off with back-to-back strikeouts to strand both runners on base.
A 4-6-3 double play to open the top of the 10th inning looked to shift the momentum for Greeneville as Ben Flowers ended the frame on the mound for the Flyboys with a huge strikeout to send his team to the plate. A sacrifice bunt from Croom moved a pair of runners into scoring position for Greeneville, while an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out. Aguilar would take a pitch off his right hip to allow the winning run to score and secure the 4-3 victory.
The Greeneville pitching staff scattered 11 hits on the night from Bristol and notched 12 strikeouts without issuing a walk. Cameron Wagoner took the no-decision after yielding one run off five hits to go along with four strikeouts for the Flyboys. Mason Turner worked 1.2 innings of scoreless, while Flowers earned his first win of the season for Greeneville.
Bush, Jr. finished the night 2-for-5 with a run scored for the Flyboys, while Emanuel Dean worked three walks on the night for Greeneville. The Flyboys worked a total of seven walks at the plate, including three in the two-run fourth inning.
