Greeneville Flyboys News Release

Elizabethton, TN - The Greeneville Flyboys were no hit in a rain-shortened six inning game against the Elizabethton River Riders and lost 3-0 on Monday night.

The Flyboys (12-13) were blanked by the River Rider's (12-11) starter Baker Cox (1-3).

Cox went all six innings, allowed zero hits, struck out 10 and only allowed two base runners via walk. The second year River Rider came into the outing with an 0-3 record and a 7.90 ERA.

The game started 31 minutes late due to a thunderstorm that moved through just prior to the scheduled first pitch time of 7 p.m.

Cameron O'Banan (0-2) started for the Flyboys. O'Banan gave up a double to Trey Fenderson and an RBI single to Haden Moore to start the game. After Moore stole second base, Austin Jaslove grounded one to first base with Moore breaking from second on the pitch. Moore was able to score from second on the groundball and Jaslove picked up an RBI.

After the two-run first inning, O'Banan settled in and did not allow any more hits. He struck out eight batters over four innings pitched.

Colby Lipovsky pitched the fifth and sixth innings for Greeneville. Lipovsky gave up a run on a sacrifice fly to Skylar King in the sixth inning.

After the inning, the game went into a rain delay as another thunderstorm moved in. The game was officially called after about thirty minutes of persistent rain.

The Flyboys will be at home for a Fourth of July game against the River Riders tomorrow night. Pioneer Park is expected to be packed and tickets are still available. A link to watch the game can be found on the Flyboys website.
