Floyd Mayweather Sr. coming to Wings Stadium

Kalamazoo, MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces that boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Sr. has signed on to be part of the Midwest Professional Boxing Series event that is coming to Kalamazoo on Saturday, October 22nd.

The boxing icon will be at the weigh-in, pre-fight party, having t-shirt giveaways, and signing autographs at the fight. Mayweather Sr. will also be doing media interviews to promote the blockbuster night.

In his boxing career, Mayweather Sr. went 30-6-1 with 20 of his victories coming by knockout. The native of Cleveland, Ohio was even part of the first-ever boxing event at Wings Stadium, as he defeated Joe Armour back on July 24, 1976.

Mayweather Sr. is still very much a part of the boxing world as a prominent trainer. Mayweather Sr. is the former trainer of his son, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and currently trains Oscar De La Hoya. Mayweather Jr. has hit the boxing world by storm by registering a record of 34-0, while De La Hoya has become one of the best known boxers of his generation.

Tickets for this premier boxing event are on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office and all Ticketmaster locations.

The Midwest Professional Boxing Series has chosen Kalamazoo as its host city for their premier event of the 2005/2006 Professional Boxing Season, which features World Ranked IBF Contender Damian Fuller in The Debut, Main Event.

Professional boxing, now a highly regulated and vastly attended, red carpet professional sporting event, has enjoyed a lot of positive popularity lately in the press, as well as Hollywood. The critically acclaimed and blockbuster success of both "Million Dollar Baby" and "Cinderella Man", along with the hugely successful, NBC reality show "The Contender" (that will resume on ESPN next season) has created a host of new and very enthusiastic boxing fans that cross gender lines and that venture deep into the mainstream.

Tickets are priced at $75 VIP, $50 Ringside, $37.50 Reserved and $23 General Admission, and are available now at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office and Ticketmaster locations, which include www.ticketmaster.com. Stadium Management Company owns both Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
