Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards General Manager and Coach Brian Curran announced today that forward Glenn Detulleo and defenseman Joel Pullman have been signed for the 2005-06 season. Detulleo joins the Mallards after spending 2004-05 with the United Hockey League's Missouri River Otters. Pullman comes to the Quad Cities after splitting his rookie campaign between three squads.
Detulleo recorded five goals and 17 assists for 22 points last season. In his first pro season in North America, Detulleo appeared in all 80 games for the Otters. He also appeared in six post-season games. In the playoffs, Detulleo scored a goal and added an assist for two points with six penalty minutes.
Before joining the Otters, Detulleo played three seasons in Germany. In 124 European games, the Timmins, Ontario native scored 45 goals and rang up 67 assists for 112 points. Detulleo appeared in games with Lillehammer, Essen and Berlin while playing in the German League.
Prior to going overseas, Detulleo was one of the most dominant players in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) while at Iowa State University. In 1999-2000, he led his conference, the Central State Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL), in scoring with 110 points (58 goals and 52 assists). He was named the league's Most Valuable Player and a member of the First All-Star Team. Detulleo followed that up with 122 points (45 goals and 77 assists) in 2000-01. He was the CSCHL scoring champion for a second consecutive year and also earned First Team All-Star, All-Academic and All-Tournament Team honors.
Pullman played 55 games last year as a rookie defenseman. The Springside, Saskatchewan native played 47 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional League (SPHL). In his time in Columbus, Pullman scored six goals with 10 assists for 16 points. He also played seven games in the Central Hockey League with the Oklahoma City Blazers and had a single appearance in the ECHL with the Gwinnett Gladiators. In five playoff games with the Cottonmouths, Pullman had an assist and two penalty minutes.
Pullman played his junior hockey in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Estevan Bruins. In 118 junior games over two years, he scored 16 goals with 44 assists for 60 points.
"We are very pleased with today's signings," said Curran. "Glenn is a feisty, all-around player that will bring a lot to our line-up night in and night out. He is the type of player that I really like. He'll go, go, go and always be in your face. Joel is a fantastic skater. With the elimination of the red line, defensemen like him will play a much larger role in the game."
