Seventh Player Added to Mechanics roster

FRASER, MI- The Motor City Mechanics, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL) are pleased to announce the signing of Rookie Forward, Peter Szabo.

Szabo, 24, hails from Nitra, Slovakia and has spent four years at St. Cloud State University playing Division One NCAA hockey from 2001-2005. During those four years Szabo compiled 23 goals (g), 70 assists (a) for 93 points (pts) and 113 penalty minutes (PIM).

During the 2004-05 season Szabo ranked second on the team in points during conference play with 18, second in assists with 15 and third in shots with 82.

"We're excited to have Peter in the organization, he had a great career at St. Cloud State and we look forward to him contributing to the team throughout the season," said Mechanics Head Coach, Danton Cole.

The Mechanics now have seven players signed for the 2005-06 season. All-Star Defenseman, Kevin Hansen, former Michigan State Spartan Defenseman, Chris Bogas, returning Center, Chris Gignac, Forward, Mike Burgoyne, Ukrainian Right Wing, Konstantin Kalmikov and Goaltender, Rod Branch are all under contract for the upcoming season.

The Mechanics open the 2005-06 season October 21st when they visit the Missouri River Otters and come join the Mechanics when they open up at home against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday October 28th.

NOTES: Former Mechanics player, Rick Smith has announced his retirement. Smith played four years professionally including three years in the ECHL and last season with the Mechanics. Smith's best professional year came during the 2000-01 season when he posted a career high in goals (16) and points (28).
