Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - Dylan Floro surrendered just one run in six innings on Thursday night to lead the Bowling Green Hot Rods (31-28) to a 6-1 victory over the Dayton Dragons (25-34) in downtown Bowling Green. Tommy Coyle contributed with three hits as the Hot Rods snapped their season-long seven-game losing streak, which tied the second-longest losing streak in franchise history.
Dayton acquired the early lead on an RBI single from Zach Vincej in the top of the second, but the Hot Rods answered with four runs in the bottom half. Bowling Green tied the score when Leonardo Reginatto drew a bases-loaded walk and took the lead on a Brandon Martin sacrifice fly to left field. The biggest play of the game happened immediately after the Martin at bat when Coyle laced a two-run double down the line in left field to make it 4-1 Hot Rods.
Pitching with the lead suited Floro, who cruised through the next four innings only allowing one hit during that stretch. Floro's six innings provides him with his third quality start of the season, a mark that leads the team, as the Hot Rods improve to 6-4 during his starts.
Bowling Green was able to tally two more insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on RBI singles from Andrew Toles and Tyler Goeddel. Matt Ramsey hurled the final two innings of relief to lock down the win for the Hot Rods, their first since Wednesday, May 29, in Lake County. The victory also keeps the Hot Rods 4.5 games back (with ten games to play) of Fort Wayne for the final Eastern Division first half playoff spot.
The final first half home game of the 2013 season will take place on Friday night at 7:05 PM at Bowling Green Ballpark, representing the series finale of this three-game set. The Hot Rods will give the pearl to LHP Sean Bierman (2-2, 1.62), while the Dragons will counter with RHP Pedro Diaz (1-5, 6.25). The Forever Communications Pregame Show with Hank Fuerst and Chris Kleinhans-Schulz begins at 6:35 PM CDT on the Hot Rods Radio Network (1340 "The Ticket" WBGN-AM and 1340WBGN.com).
Friday night is Faith and Family Night presented by Christian Family Radio at Bowling Green Ballpark, a night of fellowship and baseball at the park. A Hot Rods player will provide a pregame faith testimonial, and Seventh Day Slumber will hold a concert before the game.
