Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - Dylan Floro did not allow a run in 6.2 innings, leading the Bowling Green Hot Rods (60-41, 22-11) to a 2-0 win on the road against the Great Lakes Loons (48-55, 21-12) on Thursday night. The Hot Rods offense scored twice in the first inning for the only runs for either team on the night. The win, which is also the Hot Rods 11th shutout of the season, places the Bowling Green back atop the Eastern Division second half standings.
Andrew Toles doubled during the first at bat of the game and scored two pitches later when Leonardo Reginatto singled him home. Reginatto later came into score in the inning when Luke Maile reached first base on a throwing error from Loons shortstop Corey Seager. The low throw at first base allowed Reginatto to score from second.
Throughout the remainder of the game, the Hot Rods had plenty of chances to add to their lead. Unable to do so, the Bowling Green offense finished the night 1-11 with runners in scoring position.
Floro proved Thursday night that the Hot Rods didn't need to add any insurance as his 6.2 scoreless frames not only give him his team-leading eighth win of the season, but it lowered his Midwest League-leading ERA to 1.68. Marcus Jensen inherited a Floro runner at first base in the seventh inning but didn't allow the Loons to score as he recorded the final seven outs of the game for his third save of the season.
The series finale of the three-game series will take place on Friday night at Dow Diamond at 6:05 PM CDT. The Hot Rods will give the start to RHP Reinaldo Lopez (5-4, 2.30), while the Loons will counter with RHP Brandon Martinez (1-0, 3.94). The broadcast starts with Hank Fuerst on the Forever Communications Pregame Show at 5:35 PM CDT on the Hot Rods Radio Network (1340 "The Ticket" WBGN-AM and 1340wbgn.com).
Bowling Green Ballpark returns to action in early August with a nine-game homestand to open the month. The Hot Rods will host the Dayton Dragons on August 1 along with Red, White, and Blue Night presented by AAA Systems, honoring members of the military, firefighters, and police personnel. The game will also serve as Thirsty Thursday, with $2 food and drink specials made possible by All-Hit WUHU 107 and Beaver 96.7.
