Florida Recalls Kreps

February 8, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that forward Kamil Kreps has been recalled by the Florida Panthers for the second time this season.

Kreps, who received his first recall on January 6th, has one point/assist in six games with the Panthers. He has seven goals and 13 assists in 33 games for the Amerks. The Panthers are scheduled to take on the Minnesota Wild tonight at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Florida currently owns the worst road record in the NHL (6-14-8).

The Amerks will not be bored this weekend, as they are scheduled to play three games in as many nights. And if that is not enough, they will have to play on short rest in the weekend finale, as Sunday's contest in Hamilton is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.

The Amerks will kick the weekend off on Friday, February 9th, as they duel with the Philadelphia Phantoms at The Blue Cross Arena in the first of two scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. The first 500 fans 18 years of age and older will receive a voucher for a free New York Lottery Ticket. The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks, and will be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26.

After winning six straight games in mid-January, the Amerks have gone 4-3 in their last seven and have lost two straight. They have been outscored 10-2 and have given up six power-play goals in 16 opportunities in those two consecutive defeats. Despite their recent woes, the Amerks remain in first place in the North Division, currently seven points better than second-place Hamilton. They are 17-17-4 all-time against Philadelphia.

The Phantoms are doing only slightly better this season than their parent club, the Philadelphia Flyers. With a record of 17-25-2-5 and 41 points, the Phantoms currently sit in second to last place in the American Hockey League. They are 3-3-1-3 in their last ten and are 0-1-0-2 in their last three contests. The Phantoms' offensive efforts this season have been led by centers Mark Cullen and Matt Ellison. Cullen leads the team with 27 points (7+20), while Ellison has chipped in with six goals and 19 assists. Defenseman Nolan Baumgartner is fourth in points for the Phantoms with 23 (5+18) and was the team's only representative at the 2007 AHL All-Star Classic.
