Florida Panthers Sign Nolan Yonkman

SUNRISE, Fla. (July 1, 2011) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defensemen Nolan Yonkman on a two-year contract. Yonkman joins defenseman Brian Campbell, forward Tomas Kopecky, goaltender Jose Theodore, defenseman Ed Jovanovski, forward Scottie Upshall, forward Kris Versteeg, forward Tomas Fleischmann and center Marcel Goc as new Panthers signings over the last week.

Yonkman, 30, has played in 66 career National Hockey League games for Washington (2001-06) and Phoenix (2010-11) registering nine points (1-8-9) and 129 PIM. The Punnichy, Saskatchewan native tallied one goal and four assists in 56 games with the Rampage last season and served as the team captain.

The 6-foot-6, 247-pound defenseman has played in 464 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with Portland (2001-05), Hershey (2005-06), Milwaukee (2006-2010) and San Antonio (2010-11), registering 59 points (14-45-59) and 820 PIM.
