Florida Panthers Recall G Jacob Markstrom from San Antonio

SUNRISE, FLA - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that G Jacob Markstrom has been recalled from San Antonio (AHL).

Markstrom, 22, appeared in seven games with Florida this season going 2-4-1 with a .923 save percentage and a 2.66 GAA. He made his first career NHL start on Oct. 18 at Washington, stopping 29-of-31 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Capitals. He earned his first career NHL win on Oct. 22 vs. the New York Islanders, turning away 18 shots in a third-period relief appearance. Markstrom stopped 40-of-41 shots to earn his first complete game win on Oct. 24 at Montreal.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound netminder has earned both wins for San Antonio as the Rampage lead their AHL playoff series against the Chicago Wolves, 2-0. Markstrom played in 32 games with San Antonio during the regular season, going 17-12-1 with a .927 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA.

The Gavle, Sweden native was drafted by Florida in the first round (31st overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
