Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that F Tim Kennedy has been recalled from the Rochester Americans (AHL) and that F Patrick Rissmiller has been reassigned to Rochester.
Kennedy, 24, earns his second recall of the year to Florida. He played in three games earlier this season (3/8-3/12), averaging 10:08 in ice time. For his NHL career, Kennedy has played in 82 games with Buffalo (2008-10) and Florida (2011), scoring 10 goals with 16 assists and 50 PIM. Kennedy has played in 12 games with Rochester this season, notching seven assists.
The Buffalo, NY native was acquired by Florida on Feb. 26, 2011 along with a third-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Bryan McCabe. Kennedy was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth-round (No. 181 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Rissmiller, 32, has played in seven games with Florida this season, averaging 10:28 in ice time. The Belmont, Mass. native has skated in 190 NHL games with San Jose (2003-08), NY Rangers (2008-09), Atlanta (2010-11) and Florida (2011), recording 45 points (18-27-45). Rissmiller has played in five games with Rochester this season, recording two goals and five assists.
Florida (29-37-12) hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen live on Fox Sports Florida and heard on Sports Radio 560 WQAM.
Rochester closes out the weekend tonight as it exchanges pleasantries with the league-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. The Pens are currently the AHL's top team and were the first to not only clinch a playoff berth, but were the first team in the league to claim a division crown. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 109 points are 13 more than the defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears in the East Division, making them unreachable with just five games to go. Fans can tune into the 7:05 p.m. contest live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
