Florida Panthers Ink D Mike Mottau

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers Executive VP & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with D Mike Mottau on a one-year, two way contract.

Mottau, 35, has played in 313 National Hockey League games with New York Rangers (2000-2002), Calgary Flames (2002-2003), New Jersey Devils (2007-2010), New York Islanders (2010-2012) and Boston Bruins (2011-2012) registering 58 points (7-51-58) and 160 PIM. The 6-foot, 195-pound defenseman has also played in 19 postseason games with New Jersey and Boston scoring two goals with two assists.

The Quincy, Massachusetts native, played four years at Boston College, earning the Hobey Baker Award, as college hockey's top player in 2000. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in the seventh round (182nd overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
