Florence Y'alls News Release
Florence, KY. - The Florence Y'alls held the season opener against the Washington Wild Things on Thursday night. It was a game full of spontaneous moves, home runs and, most importantly, the excitement of the Frontier League's season beginning.
The Y'alls went on a back-and-forth race with the Wild Things until they were able to put themselves far ahead. Coming off three runs from Washington in the top of the fifth inning, the Y'alls were able to bring in seven runs, taking a 10-6 lead.
Shortstop Luis Pintor put a pop fly into the left center gap for an RBI double. Third baseman Chad Sedio, next in the lineup, split that gap as well to bring in the second run of the inning.
Second baseman Harrison DiNicola came to the plate later in the inning with bases loaded. He then knocked a groundball that allowed two runs to score to take the lead, 7-6.
The bases stayed loaded in the inning as designated hitter Jordan Brower came to the plate. Brower took one deep to left to bring in three more runs and extend the lead.
Washington attempted to take the win hitting back-to-back home runs in the top of the ninth inning but fell short one run to end the game with the Y'alls taking a 10-9 win.
Sean Hughes earned the win in relief, Johnathon Tripp earned a three inning save.
