EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Utah Flash traveled Friday to Los Angeles for a Western Conference battle against the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Both teams came out firing to start the game, but the Flash eventually pulled away for the 118-110 victory. Utah was lead by Gabe Pruitt who had 21 points, and seven Flash players scored in double digits.
Utah came out aggressive behind the hot hand of Luke Nevill who scored 12 points in the first quarter. Nevill only missed one shot in the first quarter and had five rebounds to go along with his 12 points.
Utah pushed its lead from seven to nine in the second quarter behind the active play of Carlos Wheeler. Frank Robinson kept the D-Fenders within reach by notching 18 points in the first half to lead the way for Los Angeles. At the half Utah led 65-56.
Ryan Forehan-Kelly found a rhythm and scored 13 points during the third quarter. Los Angeles clawed their way back into the game and despite having trailed by as many as 13 points in the third quarter and the D-Fenders ended the quarter down only six points.
The fourth quarter was a back and forth battle. Utah pushed their lead to as many as nine points in the beginning of the final period. Not willing to give up, the D-Fenders hung around and managed to close the gap to as few as two points, but Utah held its composure, hit its free throws and pulled out the victory. Gabe Pruitt stepped up for the Flash scoring 14 of his 21 points in the final quarter.
Leading the way for Utah was Pruitt with 21 points while Orien Green and Andre Ingram chipped in 19 and 18 respectively. Los Angeles was led by Robinson and Joe Crawford who each scored 24 points.
These same two teams will meet tomorrow, except the venue will change as both teams travel to Orem to play in the McKay Events Center. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
