
Flash convert in the end to pick up win over Idaho

Orem, UT - The Utah Flash are one step closer to the playoffs with a 116 - 109 win against the Idaho Stampede. The Flash were down one point with three minutes remaining until a three pointer by Kevin Kruger put the Flash up two. Later in the fourth, The Flash closed out the game consecutive steals converted into breakaway dunks by Brian Hamilton and Bennet Davis to push their lead to five with less than a minute remaining.
"I thought it was a playoff atmosphere type game for sure," said Brad Jones, head coach of the Utah Flash. "Tonight, we played with hustle and energy, and we found a way to win at the end of the game."
Neither team lead by more than five points in the first quarter. There were four lead changes and three ties during the quarter. The first quarter ended with both teams tied at 30. The Stampede benefited by going 13 of 15 from the free throw line, while the Flash shot 50-percent from the field.
The teams were tied going into halftime at 57 with another close quarter. The Flash pushed the lead to seven points with a balanced attack with Gabe Pruitt, Davis, Hamilton all in double figures. The Stampede battled back by going crashing the boards with 13 offensive rebounds and 21 second chances points at the half. Idaho's Donell Taylor led all scorers with 15 points at the half.
The third quarter featured another close quarter until the Flash went on an 11 - 4 run to close the quarter. The Flash were lead by Orien Greene who scored 11 points after halftime, and finished the game with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
In the fourth quarter, there were four lead changes with the difference being the Flash's ability to score from behind the arc and defend at the end of the game. The Flash ended up with six players in double figures with Utah's Orien Greene leading all scorers with 23.
Idaho was led by Taylor's 22 points while Coby Karl's 21 points. Lance Allred added had a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. The two teams face-off for the third game in four nights tomorrow in a continued battle for a final playoff spot. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. at the McKay Events Centers.
