Reno Bighorns News Release

RENO, Nev.- Desmon Farmer reached the 30-point plateau for the 10th time this season on Friday night, finishing with 32 to propel the Reno Bighorns to a 102-91 victory over the Maine Red Claws in the Reno Events Center.

With Tulsa and Utah earning victories earlier in the evening, the Bighorns (24-22) held serve on their home floor, picking up a key win to keep their playoff hopes alive with just four games remaining on the regular-season slate.

Reno and Maine (27-20) traded the lead eight times in the first quarter, but it would be the Bighorns who would hold the upper hand after the first period of play, 30-24. The Bighorns would never trail again, using a steady scoring attack to cruise past the Red Claws.

Farmer's 32 paced five Bighorns in double figures Friday night. Rod Benson notched his sixth-straight double-double with 18 points and 15 boards, while Doug Thomas recorded a double-double of his own with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Former Red Claw guard Will Blalock picked-up 17 points and nine assists on the night.

Morris Almond led the way for Maine with 22 points, while Paul Davis collected a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Russell Robinson, who played the entire 2008-09 season in Reno and began this season with the Bighorns before a mid-season trade for Blalock, finished with 18 points and eight assists.

Reno recorded seven steals and seven blocked shots on the night, while committing just nine turnovers on the offensive end.

The ‘Horns and ‘Claws will hook-up again on Saturday night in the Reno Events Center. Tip-time is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are on-sale now at www.RenoBighorns.com, the Reno Events Center Box Office, Silver Legacy Box Office, or by visiting any Northern Nevada Ticketmaster location or Web site.
