Flames Return Ference To Omaha

The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate, have re-assigned defenseman Brad Ference. The announcement was made by Flames' General Manager Darryl Sutter. He will join the Knights for their three-game weekend which begins Friday night at home against Iowa.

Ference has played in five games with the Flames this season, earning no points and two penalty minutes. Ference was signed by the Flames in July of 2006. The Calgary native is in eighth professional season after being drafted by Florida in the first round, tenth overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft. In 27 games with the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights this season, he has a goal and nine assists for ten points and a team-leading 81 penalty minutes. He ranks second in defenseman scoring.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights host the Iowa Stars Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the first game of three games in three nights. The ZOOperstars will perform at the game sponsored by Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and the Lozier IMAX Theater. On Saturday, the Knights welcome the Peoria Rivermen at 7:00 p.m. The Knights will hold Kids' New Years with Nebraska's largest indoor fireworks show immediately following the game. Fans who buy tickets for Friday game will receive an equal number of tickets for Saturday's game free. The Knights finish the weekend on Sunday in Iowa.

Tickets for all Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' games are on sale at the Omaha Civic Auditorium box office Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets also are available through all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (402) 422-1212. Kids 12 and under get in free with a paid adult on tickets purchased after 5:00 p.m. Other restrictions apply.
