
Avalanche recall River Rats D Kyle Cumiskey

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats today announced that defenseman Kyle Cumiskey has been recalled by the Colorado Avalanche. Defenseman Michael Vernace has been recalled from Arizona of the Central Hockey League to take Cumiskey's place on the River Rats roster.
Cumiskey has recorded four goals and 12 assists with 16 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in 28 games with the River Rats this season. The 20-year-old Abbotsford, B.C., native ranks first on the River Rats and is tied for 17th in the AHL in scoring among defensemen.
Vernace has three goals and 11 assists with 20 penalty minutes in 24 games with Arizona this season. The 20-year-old Toronto, Ontario native finished second among Ontario Hockey League defenseman in scoring last season with 72 points (10 goals, 62 assists) in 68 games with Brampton. He was acquired by Colorado from San Jose in exchange for a conditional draft pick June 1, 2006.
The River Rats, who have won six of their last eight games and are 8-3-1-0 in their
last 12, return to action Friday, December 29 against the defending Calder Cup
champion Hershey Bears at 7 p.m. at Pepsi Arena (Times Union Center effective
