Abbotsford Heat News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today they have reassigned goaltender Leland Irving to Abbotsford and recalled goaltender Danny Taylor.

"When we claimed Joey MacDonald off waivers we did so with the expectation that he would play games for us," said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. "Now that he has seen some game action we intend to use him more. By sending Leland to Abbotsford at this time he does not require waivers. We want Leland to go down and work on sharpening his game. At the same time this enables us to continue to evaluate Danny Taylor at the NHL level. Given Kipper's injury we are undergoing a process of evaluating our other goaltenders and this assignment of Leland and subsequent recall of Danny is in furtherance of that evaluation process."

Irving has played six games this season in Calgary posting a 2-1-1 record, a .883 save percentage and a 3.33 GAA. This is Taylor's second stint with the Flames this season after signing as a free agent on February 6, 2013. He currently leads all AHL goaltenders with a 1.82 GAA and is ranked 5th in the league with a .929 save percentage. In 27 games with the Heat he has posted a 13-10-1 record.
