Flames Assign James Martin to Aces from Abbotsford

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced today that the Flames have reassigned defenseman James Martin to the Aces from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Martin will join the Aces in time for their next game, tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. (103.7 FM/750 AM KFQD) to continue an eight game road trip against the Utah Grizzlies at Maverik Center.

Martin, 22, returns with eight assists in 14 ECHL games, leading all Aces defensemen in scoring while leading the league's defensemen with a +12 rating.

The 6-foot-2, 205 pound defenseman skated in two games with two penalty minutes for Abbotsford this season and has suited up in 35 career AHL games, carrying four points (2g-2a) and 32 penalty minutes for Abbotsford.

Martin has 21 points (3g-18a) and a +9 rating in 58 career ECHL games with the Aces and Utah Grizzlies.

The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was signed by Calgary as a free agent on Sept. 22, 2011.
